  Medical Records


The Medical Records Department forms the integral part of the patient care which comprises the Reception Counter, Outpatient registration service, Billing (Investigations) service and, Administration & Discharge Services. This department is headed by a qualified professional and managed by technicians and experienced and trained staffs. This department is organized and managed upon the concept that it exists for the benefit of the patients. Thus this department benefits the patient by being responsible for the completeness, accuracy, and availability of the medical records at all times.

The Reception Counter takes care of all enquiries of patient and the attendants, which includes searching the patient medical records number, tracing and locating the patient who has registered on the day and attending to all telephonic enquiries of patients. The outpatient service functions every day between 7.00 A.m. till 5.30 P.m. from Monday till Saturday. The Billing (Investigations) service helps the patient for payment regarding investigations ordered by the surgeons and the minor procedures done to the patients.

The Admission & Discharge service helps the patient to get accommodation of their choice as smoothly and quickly as possible. The Admission & Discharge counter functions 24 hours round the clock to handle emergency patients at any time. Various rooms such as suite, A/C special, A class, B class and, general beds are available according to the convenience of the patients. To avoid Patients waiting in the discharge counter during discharge, the final billing process is done in all the floors everyday in the morning.

Recognizing the needs of the department, a medical records training course is conducted to train the students in the field of Medical Records. The students are given on the job training to meet the standards required for the management medical records department. Statistical reports based on the no. of patients treated and surgeries performed are generated every month. This report is sent to the governing board for future planning and control of activities.
