Networking with Voluntary Organisations
Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai where the Eye Bank is situated has a distinct advantage of having links with numerous voluntary organisations like Lions clubs, Rotary clubs and other NGO's for its outreach activities. With the adequate training from the Eye Bank, these clubs perform the activities of the Eye Donation centres and contribute to the Eye Bank by procuring Eyes. At present the Eye Bank has 26 collection centres in 8 districts of Tamilnadu. Almost, 70% of the eyes collected by the Eye Bank are through these collection centres.
