Aurowell Awareness Weak:
Experts from various fields of medicine were invited and requested to give an awareness talk on the common health problems during Awareness week held from August 22-28. Medical specialists addressed on several subjects including eye diseases. - On August 22, Dr. Selvam, Dermatologist, spoke on "Skin, various skin diseases and also skin care".
- On August 23, Dr.Madhubala, Gynaecologist spoke on the "Female Reproductive Organ, Mensturation and Personal Hygiene".
- On August 25, Ms.Meena, Beautician spoke on "Whole body Care (from Hair to toe), Dandruff treatment also shared simple tips that could be followed at Home/Hostel for healthy living".
-On August 26, Dr.Balakrishnan, Geriatrist spoke on “As self awareness is important, it is also important that we are aware of People we handle in our day today live. As we mostly handle aged patients, a Geriatrist was invited to talk on "Old age health problems and also the ways of handling emergencies".
- On August 27, Dr.Kanchana Suresh, Dentist, spoke on "Dental care and most common dental problems"
- On August 28, Dr.A.Subramaniam, Physician, spoke on "Health is Wealth".
Aurowell Exhibition:
An Exhibition was put up in connection with Aurowell from August 25-29. This activity was planned to create awareness among the staff members regarding "Health and healthy living". The Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr.R.Ramakrishnan, C.M.O and Dr.Manakavala Perumal, Physician. Various charts, models and anatomy specimens were displayed for better understanding. Charts were presented on the following topics Body Mass Index, Major Diseases affecting Women and its treatment, Stress and Stress Management, Pregnancy, Menstrual Cycle, Menopause and Management of Menopause, Yoga and Exercise, Asanas for Hypertension, Diabetes, Back pain, Neck pain, Headache, few other topics like Personal Hygiene, Laughter the best medicine, Importance of Drinking water and minimum litre of water to be taken daily, Diabetes, Simple Home remedy for common ailments, Simple beauty tips, Postures and Ergonomics, Computer Ergonomics.
A number of models were displayed during the Exhibition including Anatomy Specimens like Brain, Heart, Kidney, Lungs and Liver brought from Government Medical College, Tirunelveli.
Aurowell Badge :
A badge was also designed this year for the Aurowell Committee members. All the Committee members wore the badge from the first day of Aurowell celebrations. The badge served two purposes one as a remainder for the staff members about Aurowell and the tests they had to undergo and the other is to motivate all to take part in Aurowell and related activities enthusiastically.
Aurowell Stall :
“Health awareness and Healthy eating leads to Healthy Living”. As part of the Aurowell Exhibition, a stall was put up where healthy food items were sold at a subsidised rate for our staff members. Tomato soup, vegetable soup, sprouts and butter milk, fruit salad and fruit Juice, etc were sold. There was an overwhelming response to the stall and visitors enjoyed eating healthy food.
