Prof. V. Srinivasan and Mr. S. Poornachandran from Instruments Maintenance Department were as the visiting faculty for attending Bio-Medical Engineering Workshop organised by Orbis International at Menelik II Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Mr. Xiioa Ming of Orbis Flying Hospital was the Faculty member for the program. 24 technicians from different parts of Ethiopia attended this workshop. 20 pieces of instruments like Slit lamps, Microscopes, Cryo machines etc, were given to the training groups during the workshop. The highlight of the workshop was the “resurrection” of an operating table that had been left abandoned to the elements of nature (sun, wind and rain) near a garbage pit for more than two years. It was a great experience for all of them when they saw that the instruments set right by them were shifted to the clinics as fast as they were repaired and put to use.
