PRISM 2009 “EXCELLENCE IN HOSPITAL & HEALTHCARE ADMINISTRATION”
LAICO, February 14-15, 2009
PRISM 2009 was held at LAICO PRISM is an annual national meet organised at LAICO by the Fellows in Eye Hospital Management and the Aravind Administrative Team. PRISM aims to enhance new insights into hospital management for professionals and students in this sector. Through sharing of rich experiences of professionals from diverse fields of management, PRISM provides a forum for hospital administrative professionals to keep themselves updated with the latest happenings in the hospital management sector. It serves to provide a platform for hospital administrators to network with each other.
      The objectives of the conference are:
- To share the experience, approaches and tools for improving the delivery of hospital services and
- To provide opportunity for networking with professionals of diverse background in health care.
      PRISM was initiated in the year 2005 and since then, it is being organised by the Fellows in Eye Hospital Management as part of their one year training.
      PRISM 2009 which was the 5th conference in this series was held at LAICO from February 14-15. The programme started with an inaugural function on 14th morning. Dr. G. Natchiar, Vice-Chairman, AECS welcomed the gathering. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. R. D. Thulasiraj, Executive Director, LAICO. Following this Mr. Sanil Joseph, Faculty, LAICO who was the organising secretary of PRISM-2009 gave an overview about the events for the two days.
      Under the broad theme of “Excellence in Hospital & Healthcare Administration”, PRISM-2009 covered a wide range of topics under four modules as follows:       Eminent Speakers from various fields threw their insight which could transform HealthCare in the coming years. Mr. R. Basil, Director & CEO, Manipal Health System, Bangalore, Mr. Venkat Changavalli, CEO, Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI), Secunderabad, Dr. S. Ramesh Babu, Medical Superintendent, Global Hospital and Health City, Chennai, Mr. Sathya Shankar, Vice President, Eagle Software India Private Limited, Chennai, Mr. Sudeep, Registrar, Centre for Earth Science, Trivandrum, Mr. Srinivasan H, Assistant Vice President, Star Health Insurance, Chennai, Mr. Raj Pandyan, Team Leader, Health Programme, Dhan Foundation, Madurai, Mr. Vijendra Katre, Project Officer, Rashtiya Swasthya Bhima Yojana, Govt. of Gujarat and Dr. Suzanne Gilbert, Co-ordinator-IAPB, Director-Centre for Innovation in Eye Care, Seva Foundation, USA were the leading speakers who handled various sessions in the conference.
      Mr. R. D Thulasiraj, Executive Director, LAICO, Dr. S. Aravind, Administrator, AECS, Dr. R. D. Ravindran, Joint Director, AECS and Mrs. Preeti Pradhan, Senior HR Manager participated as internal resource persons. Mr. Suresh Kumar, Faculty Associate, LAICO, Mr. Sanil Joseph, Faculty LAICO, and Ms. Sasipriya, Faculty, LAICO moderated various sessions.
      The conference was attended by 139 participants from various parts of the country of which nearly 50 were delegates and the rest were students of Hospital and Healthcare Management. Poster presentation and Paper presentations had been organized as part of the conference in which the best two presentations were given cash awards.
