It was led by Ms. Preethi Pradhan, and there were a total of 19 participants representing the five hospitals, AMECS office and Aurolab.
The retreat began with each hospital presenting a report of their activities in Jan 2009. The main areas of discussion in the retreat were
- Planning the HR activities on the HR calendar-2009
- Standardising the manpower planning for MLOPs
- Enhancing the employee development system ‘Sigarathai Nokki’
- Effective utilisation of Human Resource Information System
- Streamlining and Standardising the current personnel policies
The need to document, standardise the work and have a process in place for sharing best practices with each other was emphasised in the retreat. Though the two days were intense with various sessions, group work and presentations, they provided a forum for the various HR staff to interact with each other and reach a level of better understanding. There were also moments of relaxation as the group was taken on a visit to Tirunelveli - Nellaiappar Temple which is one of the famous Tamil Nadu temples.
The two-day HR retreat provided a clear understanding of how the human resource staff, MLOP’s, HR Representatives and Personnel staff could contribute to the better functioning of Aravind Eye Care System.
