SECOND ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION AT AMETHI

Indira Gandhi Eye Hospital & Research Centre, Amethi celebrated its second Anniversary on December 3. This year instead of talking about the numbers alone they did it in a different manner by exposing the efforts contributed by the staff of each department for the successful functioning of the hospital, which was well appreciated by all and staff felt fully motivated. The total number of patients examined and surgeries performed in two years was 169, 275 and
12, 000 respectively.





OUT-BOUND EDUCATION PROGRAMME
Aravind-Puducherry, December 5-9, 2007
All the training coordinators were taken on a 5 day trip from December 5-9 to Puducherry state for an out bound education Programme and a guest lecture held at Marakkanam and Aravind-Puducherry.
      The programme helped the staff to learn unknown things for doing the known things in a better way. The out-bound education programme conducted from December 5-9 at the Pegasus Institute’s camp site on the sea shore educated the staff members on all the aspects of performing their jobs efficiently and effectively. The Programme drove home the importance of co-operation, communication, Time keeping and Team work.
      On December 8, a Guest Lecture session by Dr. Uma Chandrasekaran, Reader, School of Management, Puducherry on customer satisfaction and a session on overview idea of customer satisfaction and how it would be useful to follow it in the hospital in daily work were conducted. A session on Aravind’s mission and vision was taken by Ms. Preeti Pradhan, Senior Faculty-LAICO.
      Ms. Preeti Pradhan, Ms. Deepa Krishnan, Mr. Gnana Sekeran, HRD conducted the workshop.

INAUGURATION OF BASEMENT OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT

Inauguration of Basement OPD at Madurai was held on December 20. Dr. Susan Day inaugurated the Unit III exclusively for patients in the age group of 16 – 40.










INAUGURATION OF REFRACTIVE ERROR CLINIC
Aravind-Tirunelveli, December 24, 2007
The new Refractive error clinic (age group 15-40) was started at Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli on December 24.

- Mr. Helene Lamielle, Vice President-Clinical Regulatory and QA and Mr. David Klav, Director of European sales and Marketing, Glaukos Corporation were at Aravind-Madurai on December 4, to provide wet lab training to our surgical team.
- Mr. Sooyong Jeon, the Chusun Daily, Korea was at Aravind-Madurai on December 10, to visit our facilities and write an article on “We Generation”-The power of collaboration changes the world.
- Prof. V. Srinivasan, Stanford University, USA was at Aravind-Madurai from December 12-13, to help us in finding and setting up new technology in our future IT initiatives.
- Prof. Richard Anderson, Dept of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Washington visited Aravind-Madurai on December 13, to help us in finding and setting up new technology for our present and future IT initiatives like Vision Centres Project and Virtual University.
- Mr. David Green, Mr. David Roe, Ms. Susan day and Ms. Virginia were at Aravind-Madurai from December 17-21, to understand our model and replicating it in San Francisco’s Scenario.
- Ms. Greco Amanda and Team, Standboard University, USA was at Aravind-Madurai from December 20-22, to get orientation to Aravind Model.
- Ms. Molly Lubin and her family were at Aravind-Madurai on December 25, to understand the Aravind Model and the systems in finding and setting up new technology in our future IT initiatives.
- Mr. Tom Wilmore and Ms. Linda Magee were at Aravind-Madurai from December 27 to January 17, to have an overview about Aravind Model.
