At Aravind-Tirunelveli, November 14 World Diabetes Day was observed at Aravind-Tirunelveli on November 14. Various Programs like human chain, walk, seminar, exhibition, health awareness program and Diabetes Screening Camp were conducted on this day. All these were organised to create awareness among public regarding “Diabetes and Eye Care”. This year the theme was on “Diabetes in Children and Adolescents “. Diabetes Day Walk Diabetic day walk was taken as a part of the World Diabetes Day program. District Collector flagged off the program. Dr.R.Ramakrishnan, Chief Medical Officer, Rotary Club members, school teachers, children and doctors, paramedical staff and other filed workers participated in the procession. DR Screening Camp At Thoothukudi Diabetic Retinopathy camp was conducted at S.R.R.A. Hospital by Aravind Eye Hospital team. Total OP was 155, diabetes patients screened were 102. Diabetic Retinopathy cases were 25. Seminar was also held on the awareness on Diabetes. A total of 155 members attended the seminar. Exhibition An exhibition on Diabetes was also arranged at Aravind - Tirunelveli. Dr.R.Ramakrishnan inaugurated the exhibition, more than 600 people visited the exhibition and they were explained about diabetes. In the evening patient interaction meeting was conducted in which more than 70 persons participated and they were educated on how to prevent diabetes. Patient Interaction Meeting Patient Interaction meet was also held during the program, Dr.Chandaka answered few questions raised by the public.
